History
We are the Gamma Chapter of Sigma Omega Nu, Latina Interest Sorority Inc., established at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2002. The Gamma Chapter was re-established on July 14, 2012 by 14 daring individuals. The sisters of the Gamma Chapter shall promote the objectives and purposes of Sigma Omega Nu, which are sisterhood, scholastic excellence, self-improvement and Latina/o awareness both on campus and in the community. Our current chapter philanthropy is a collaboration with Girls Incorporated, a nonprofit organization that encourages all girls to be "Strong, Smart, and Bold" through direct service and advocacy. We also volunteer with other organizations in our community and this varies across sisters' interests. Aside from being involved on campus we also believe in enjoying our time as a college students so we participate in social activities within and outside of the Greek community.
